10 Songs that Only Entrepreneurs will Understand
Being an entrepreneur, especially a bootstrapper is a rollercoaster of emotions, some days we feel on top of the world and we are totally confident that our business will work but other days we feel the exact opposite.
Since I am a full-time bootstrapper that I started to listen to certain songs in a completely different way.
If you are an entrepreneur yourself, pay attention to these mainstream songs that only entrepreneurs will understand ⬇️
10 Top Songs For Indie Hackers
1 - Hard Times, Paramore
I am sure that Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore, wrote this song for entrepreneurs, just listen to the chorus…
Hard times, gonna make you wonder why you even try
If you are a bootstrapper I am sure you have this feeling on a weekly basis 😂
2 - Fix You, Cold Play
I have been listening to Cold Play since my teenage years but since I started bootstrapping the meaning of this song has changed.
Listen carefully.. 👂
When you feel so tired but you can’t sleep
I don’t want to get too dark but… This sentence reminds me of the time when I was on the verge of burnout.
3 - Under Pressure, Queen
I truly believe that The Queen based this song on some bootstrapper they knew… 🤣
Can’t we give ourselves one more chance? Why can’t we give love that one more chance?
When we are on the verge of quitting there is always this little voice in the back of our heads telling us to give it another try!
4 - Eye Of The Tiger, Survivor
Of course this song has made the list!
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past, you must fight just to keep them alive
One of the most important things you learn as a bootstrapper is not to be too attached to a project, we need to learn how to “kill our darlings” before they kill us.

This song portrays the feelings that any bootstrapper has before launching their new product. 🤮 🚀
6 - Moral of the Story, Watsky
This is a funny one, and speaks about the hard truth behind any entrepreneur’s success:
Work! Till your arms fall off. Till your abs get hard. And your bone’s all soft
It’s definitely not easy money!
7 - Maggie’s Farm, Bob Dylan
Most bootstrappers end up feeling frustrated about their jobs, not necessarily because they are not good, but because they are not their company…
I got a head full of ideas. That are drivin’ me insane. It’s a shame the way she makes me scrub the floor. I ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more
At somepoint, we end up deciding to quit and follow our passions…
8 - I Need A Dollar, Aloe Blacc
If you are a listener of my podcast you know that I am always complaining about money 😂
I need a dollar, dollar, a dollar is what I need. Hey, hey!
At the end of the day, bootstrappers need to make ends meet and for that, we need our project to generate enough revenue to cover our expenses…
9 - Slow Dancing in a Burning Room, John Mayer
If you think this was a breakup song… You were absolutely correct!
We are going down. And you know that we’re doomed
The breakup between an entrepreneur and her/his startup… 💔 😂
10 - Billionaire, Travie McCoy & Bruno Mars
Money should not be the reason why you bootstrap but we all dream of making a decent income from it 🤑
Oh, every time I close my eyes. I see my name in shiny lights.
To believe that we will be able to become our own bosses we need to dream big and be optimistic!
